In Feudal Japan, producing leather was considered impure. A classe named "Eta", which litterally means "below human" was in charge for this work. In despite of the end of shogunate, and the establishment of democracy, the descendant of "Eta" are still victim of marginalization inside of the japanese society. they are named : burakumin.
